We really enjoyed the 4-0 win against West Ham, although we had the Barcelona friendly and the Champions League game, it was great to run out at St. James for the first Premiership game of the season. We played good, controlled football and showed patience in our build up play. Whist we went in at half time without a goal, we were confident we’d pick up the three points.

Lua Lua is improving all the time and I’m so please that he’s starting to get in the goals. People forget that’s he’s only been playing the game for about five years, he’s missed out on years of coaching and that’s something not to be taken lightly! He more than played a pert in a very positive squad performance, we deserved the three goals and the three points. We must now look to Saturday and our visit to Manchester City. After playing them in the Cup last season, we know that this will be a tough game. They kept and used the ball very intelligently last season, and since then they’ve gone out and improved their squad. The 3-0 loss to Leeds will make them even more determined to play well against us – it’s going to be tough! It’ll also be a reunion with Distin, the players got on well with Slyvain and we were disappointed that he left. I haven’t spoken to him since the move, but he’s made a career decision, we respect that, and now we have to get on with the game.
