Favourite Player of all time?
Peter Schmeichel, a great all round keeper who achieved virtually everything in the game.

Best Player Played Against?
Gianfanco Zola, great player and a great ambassador for the game.
 
3.
Favourite ground?
Wembley, I watched the Charlton v Sunderland Division One play-off their and it was an incredible venue.
 
4.
Best Captain?
Paul Smith, Gillingham captain and a popular guy on and off the park.

Favourite group?
The Temptations
 
6.
Best Atmosphere Experienced?
Obviously the above game was special, but playing in the Walkers Bowl at Leicester in August 2002 was the loudest I’d experienced.

Andy Hessenthaler

Dreamteam or Footballer's wives?
Footballer?s Wives

Team I love to hate?
If I had to chose one, it’d be Millwall.

Team Supported as a Boy?

Favourite foreign club?
Real Madrid

Best fans (other than own clubs)
Newcastle. I was at Highbury recently when they had about 3,000 outside the ground without tickets!

Best Match and Why?
We played Ipswich in October 2002 when Joe Royle had just taken over. They really went at us and I must have had about 50 shots to save. However we scored a goal and kept a clean sheet so returned to Kent with 3 points!!

Worst Match and Why?
Probably when I conceded 4 goals on my Charlton Youth debut – Newcastle beat us 4-1!

Funniest Football Incident?
It has to be during the 4-2 away win at Brighton in September 2002. Kevin James had been booked but in the 90th minute he scored for us and then took his shirt off in celebration and ran towards the Brighton fans. As a result the ref books him and as it was his second he had to walk. You should of seen his face, I just couldn’t stop laughing – so much so that the ref even had to tell me to get a grip and get on with the game.

Do you have any match day superstitions?
As I get to my goal, I ask my posts to help me out!

Best piece of advice heard and by whom?
“Don’t let your life be about ‘what if’s’, make sure your life is about ‘when I did’ - Gary Stevens (coach at Charlton), words which I still think about today.

What was your ambition in football when you signed your first professional contract?
It was and still is to become one of the best keepers in the world.
 
19.
Biggest inspiration?
Making my mum proud.

The Hurricane – about the wrongfully imprisoned Ruben ‘The Hurricane’ Carter
