The weekend off - 07/11/2003
It’s been an interesting few weeks - from reserve team football, the loan move back to the Vetch Field, and now the weekend off! Tell you what though, it’s good to back in first team action and I’m enjoying myself - and my football. As a defender it’s great to keep clean sheets, so with a 1-0 win and 0-0 draw I’ve been happy with my personal performances. I also played in the LDV Vans Trophy on Tuesday night; a 2-1 home defeat by Southend – although I wouldn’t read too much into that result, we played with just about a reserve team and rested everyone who’ll be playing tomorrow in the Cup.
I got the news than Man U weren’t letting me play in the Cup, in some respects this is disappointing. I came here to play in the first team and just after settling back in, I’m told I’ve the weekend off. On the other hand it’s a bit of boost, United obviously think that I could play a part in the competition, so if this comes off, then I’ll be in line to make my debut in the red shirt!
Having said all that, I’m just going to get on with my own game. I can’t control what happens at Old Trafford, but I can do my best in training and on the pitch – hopefully I’ll get recognition from that.
You may be surprised that I’m back at Swansea – especially after what I’d said on previous web site articles. But Brian Flynn approached Sir Alex Ferguson and then I was asked if I fancied it. I loved my time here last season and to be honest, if both clubs are happy for the loan to take place, then I’m more than happy to be here. I can’t tell you how long I’ll be in Swansea because I genuinely don’t know. It might be a month, two months, or longer, all I can say is that I intend to enjoy it!c2001-2024 - All rights reserved - Official Player Sites -
