Arsenal Champions of the Premiership! - 12/05/2002
Looking back over the season, the strongest team we played was Arsenal and I’m not surprised they’re Champions! OK we did beat them at Highbury, but some of the football they play is incredible. I think Viera will stay at the club and if so, they can challenge Man Utd as the dominant Premiership side. As for us, our aim is to match or better this season’s performance. It’s not going to be easy as 4th place is an incredible achievement and don’t think any of the players expected anything higher. To make progress I think we need three more quality players, a left sided player, centre midfielder, and a centre back. We struggled when injuries hit us and when you look at the teams who finished above us, their squads were just so much bigger. As we’ve got the Champions League place, that’ll help attract the best, so I think it’s going to be an exciting year.
