Quick Change - 15/08/2002
After the trip to Bosnia, we arrived home around lunchtime, and then it was a case of getting prepared for the friendly at Durham City. It seemed very strange starting the day in an army camp in Sarajevo and then a few hour later pulling on my boots at New Ferens Park. I’d only played a couple of minutes in the Champions League so it was important to get a bit of a run out.
The facilities at Durham City were very good, certainly better than those experienced 24 hours earlier. I hadn’t had much sleep at all, so I was feeling pretty tired, however I played for the first sixty in a midfield holding role. I’d played there for Bolton and it’s a role a feel comfortable playing, having said that, first and foremost I’m a left back. I did manage to get a shot on target and always nice to score, but it’s Monday night I’m looking to and hopefully I’ll be involved.
