Better next season
Nol - next season will see the best of me

Aston Villa winger Nolberto Solano has pledged to produce his best form at the club next season. The 29-year-old Peruvian has been dogged by injury since completing his £1.5m move from Newcastle, but now he wants to show the fans what he can do.

"I hope to play a big part in Villa's season," Solano told the club's website. "I want to show why David O'Leary bought me from Newcastle. "We did very well last season and now it's a big challenge to improve."

O'Leary's men just missed out on qualifying for Europe last season after turning round their form to finish in sixth. Solano is convinced that Villa can go further when the new season starts in August.

"When I came to the club I did not think we would be chasing a place in Europe but we came close," said Solano. "I know the manager wants to bring players in this summer and that can only be a good thing. "We are a team who can do well."
