Looking forward to my Villa career

A lot has been said about my move from Newcastle to Villa and I feel proud that the Newcastle people have been so warm in their wishes for me. But now it is time to look forward rather than back and with the good win against Leicester my first experiences of Villa are excellent. I received a fantastic reaction from my new fans and that just capped off a great debut for me.

 I am very pleased to be here and when I made the decision to sign, one of the reasons was the idea of the club growing and reaching Europe. I could have stayed at Newcastle and maybe earned more money – but I need to play my part in the team and Villa have offered me this opportunity. I arrived here knowing that I was joining a squad with quality players. The manager is building something and I am hungry to be part of this. But most importantly I am playing for someone who believes in my ability as a footballer. This is an exciting time for me and I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s game with  Leeds.
