Solano reveal Villa interest

Newcastle United midfielder Nolberto Solano has confirmed Aston Villahave made an offer to sign him during the transfer window. The Peru international has been linked with a switch to David O'Leary's Midlanders but Sir Bobby Robson is believed to be reluctant to allow any of his first team squad to leave due to injuries to several key performers.

However, Solano has stressed he will put his family first before deciding what the future holds after learning of Villa's interest. "I recognise the offer but the two clubs have to come to an agreement," he revealed. "I want to continue in England and Aston Villa are one of the large clubs here. "But I have two more years on my contract with Newcastle. "Besides, in these days, Bobby Robson has already put me in the team,"he told Radio Programas del Peru.

"To leave this club is going to affect me, but I already have started to think that the main thing is my family." The 29-year-old is very popular on Tyneside since leaving Boca Juniors for a crack at life in England. However, he has angered Robson in the past with his commitment to representing Peru, and has only recently regained his place in the starting line-up.
