Nolberto Solano is determined to stay at Newcastle - but admits he could be forced out if Bobby Robson accepts an offer for him. The 28-year-old Peruvian has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from Tyneside after Robson signed Lee Bowyer, another right-sided midfielder. But after five years in the North East, Solano, a reported target for Celtic, said he is happy at Newcastle, where he has been for five years.

But Solano admits things could be taken out of his hands. "If Newcastle decide to sell me, then I don't have much choice," he said. "I saw what the manager said, but it's nothing personal. "I'm quite happy to stay at the club despite the signing of Lee Bowyer, and my agent hasn't mentioned anything about my future. "I know nothing about any interest from other clubs and I'm not on the transfer list. "But of course I will have to go if United receive a good offer. Every player in the world has a price and I don't pretend to be any different. Just look at David Beckham."

The former Boca Juniors winger cost Newcastle £2.5 million and is under contract until 2006, but competition from Bowyer, youngster Darren Ambrose and Toon target Brett Emerton could force him out. "One day a bid might come in and I might be told it is time to talk about my future," he told The Journal. "But no way do I want to leave. "I have worked hard to help Newcastle establish itself as one of the best clubs in the Premiership and I don't want to to miss out on what might happen next season."
