Kieron is back...

Kieron’s not had the best of luck with injuries, but his display at Southampton was pretty special. His fitness level is always excellent, and whereas some of the lads really need to work on the training pitch, he’s a bit of a natural. His build helps, he isn’t exactly Billy Whitehurst, and it shows on the pitch as he must get through more yards than anyone else.

He’s been criticised in the past for not being the most clinical in front of goal. But we see him in training and he proved it on the pitch against Southampton – he can score goals. He’ scored some great goals in the past, remember his lob at Everton a few seasons back? Maybe it’s a confidence thing, and if so, he’ll be scoring against Leeds on Wednesday as when he turned up to training today, he wasn't exactly downhearted!!

Most people think of him as an attacking midfielder, but when he plays in the centre of the park you’ll see that he’s all over the place and his ability to track back is phenomenal. In this respect it’s unfair to class him as a one dimensional player, he offers as much defensively as that in attack - it's just that his forward play catches the eye.

It makes for a good game on Wednesday night, and with lunchtime’s draw putting us up against Liverpool at Anfield, that’ll be another cracking game. It’s not the draw we would have wanted, but then again, that’s what we said when we drew Southampton at St. Mary’s!
