The trip to Holland wasn’t a exactly a break in the sun with a few bottle’s of San Miguel and factor 8. Not that that’s what we were expecting, but the standard of teams we played wasn’t exactly testing. In fitness terms it served a purpose, the gaffer played the whole squad and I don’t think anyone played much more than 45 minutes in any one game.

It didn’t surprise me that the Forest game ended in defeat, at this stage of the season it’s about fitness, then performance, and coming in a distant last…the result. Saying that, the lads don’t like losing and the win at Wolves went down well. The Barcelona game was a bit of an eye opener, I thought they played some class football. The way they knocked the ball about and took their chances was just fantastic – it’s a level we hope to reach but on that showing we know there’s some way to go. Saying that, if we play them in the Champions League it would be a fresh start and anything could happen.

As for me, I’ve been carrying a groin injury since my return from Holland. I missed out on the reserve game at Workington, purely as a precaution, but now I’m fit and looking forward to getting back on the pitch. We’ve got Durham City at their place tonight, and then I’m probably feature next at home to Boro on the 21st. I’ll let you how it goes
