KAY SINKS SPIREITES - 28/09/2004

Home-boy Antony Kay's solitary late strike earned Barnsley the spoils against 10-man Chesterfield in a lively local derby.

Barnsley-born Kay played a neat one-two with Barry Conlon before surging into the box and smashing the ball low past visiting keeper Carl Muggleton in the closing stages.

The match swung Barnsley's way when Chesterfield's Mark Innes was sent off midway through the second half as the visitors lined up a defensive wall to block a free-kick.

Michael Chopra almost scored when the set-piece was eventually taken, but the ball was scrambled off the line.

Chesterfield striker Tcham N'Toya set up Mark Debolla, but the latter carelessly placed the ball wide after cutting inside
