Although we'd lost four games on the trot, it was till a surprise when the gaffer announced that he was stepping down this morning. He'd been at the club a long time and to be fair, it doesn't help when the team is underperforming. If you take a look around football, you'll see the impact that cup runs can have on league from. Carlisle won the LDV Tropghy last year yet had a bad time in the league. Then you can look at Sheff Utd, they to have fallen away since their cup run.

I got on well with Brian Laws, and I also get on well with Russ Wilcox - our Assistant Manager who's now caretaker boss. Russ knows us and we know him, so there's not the usual situation of having to prove yourself to the new man. He's given me plenty of encouragement in the past and with all the places up for grabs and I'm hoping that I'll see more first team action in the latter stages of the season. He's an excellent man-manager, not that Brian Laws wasn't, and I know that all the players will be out to do their best against Orient on Saturday.

As for any relegation concerns, I really don't think we're in danger. We have a small but quality squad and there's more than enought there to pull us away from the wrong end of the table. Our luck will change and confident that come May, we'll be in a higher position than we are at present.
