Enjoying Coventry - 11/03/2004

The West Brom game excepted, it’s been three wins and three clean sheets since I joined Coventry and it’s fair to day that I’m enjoying the move. I want first team football and now I’m getting it. I knew a few of lads here before I joined, so that’s helped me settle. I staying at a hotel close to the M6 and spending a few hours on the motorway as I’m back home quite often. No complaints though. Whether my month’s loan is extended for another month or perhaps until the end of the season, I really don’t know. But Coventry are a decent team with a strong Premiership history and with a few more decent results, we could be in the play-off’s. Beating Wimbledon and Derby – two of the divisions struggling teams was to be expected, but they still had to be beaten!!

Then came the trip to Cardiff and three more points. That good news was tarnished by the fact I was unfortunately sent off. We considered appealing, but when I sat down with the club and looked at the tape, I have to admit that part of my studs were visible and an appeal panel could have even extended the ban. Games are coming thick and fast, so the three matches I’ll miss will be over within eight days or so.

I thought we were a lot closer to West Brom that the scoreline suggests. There was nothing in the game and we gave them two goals with sloppy defending. It just goes to show that even if Coventry don’t make promotion this season, the team isn’t too far away. We face Burnley this weekend and with their problems, I’m quietly confident of picking up a result.
