Last year I missed the Masters with a calf problem, so this year I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's tournament. It's a difficult one to call, but Sunderland have a younger side than most and that's obviously going to help! As for my 'performance', I've only just got back from Singapore, so I'll be blaming the jet lag if we don't progress! Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing Pedro smack a few in the Sunderland net! Maybe I'll see some of you down there!

I thought the World Cup was great, the gap between Western nations has massively narrowed over the last ten years, and that's great for football. To see the impact of the tournament in Asia, it was just fantastic. It's just a shame that England couldn't turn it on against Brazil, who, for me, were the worthy winners. But the team just couldn't turn it on, and I feel Kieron Dyer would have made more of an impact playing in his usual position. Easy to say though, because that would have meant pulling others from their best positions.

So the new season is just around the corner and I can't wait! It's going to be a tough year for Newcastle with expectations being raised to such a level. The pre-season friendly against Barca should be great - takes me back to that great night when Tino got his hat-trick, those were the days...
