Preston - apologies

To say I was disappointed with the Preston game is an understatement. I can only apologies for my sending off, it was a moment of madness – a schoolboy error when the frustrations of the game came to a head. In my defence I will say that it wasn’t a malicious challenge, I didn’t injure anyone, and he did go down easily. I thought a yellow card would have been more appropriate, although I can understand the referee showing me the red. I apologised to the players and they were great with me. I’ve come into the team and not been here that long, so it’s good to have the support from the boys. I also went to the boss on the Monday morning, he brought me here for my experience and professionalism so I felt I’d let him down. He listened to what I had to say and told me to get on with it.

To be honest, the worst aspect is that we failed to get three points. We seem to take two steps forward and one step back. We’re not building on good results and we haven’t put any sort of run together. If we do, then we’ll quickly climb the table so it’s far from doom and gloom. We’re away to Ipswich next, a match that pits us against another team relegated from Premiership last season. They’ve managed to keep most of the squad – except Marcus Stewart, so we’ve under no illusions, it’s going to be tough. However we’ll go there in a good frame of mind and don’t be surprised if we come back with all three points.
