Tottenham Hotspurs
HistoryThe Hotspur Football Club were formed from an older cricket club in 1882. The majority of the founders were old boys of St John's Presbyterian School and Tottenham Grammar School. The Casey brothers provided the club with goalposts which were painted blue and white, and their first ball. The local YMCA became the local meeting place for the club.
Tottenham have won the championship twice, in 1951 and 1961. They have won the F.A Cup on a total of eight occasions, 1901 (as a non-league club), 1921, 1961, 1962, 1967, 1981, 1982 and 1991. Spurs have won three European trophies, the European Cup Winners Cup in 1963 and the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984.
