Middlesbrough
HistoryMiddlesbrough football club was formed in 1876 from cricket players that played
for the local Middlesbrough cricket team. The club was officially formed in
a gymnasium in the Albert Park Hotel on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough. Two years
later a breakaway faction of the club left to form 'Middlesbrough Ironopolis'.
In 1986 after relegation, the club went into liquidation. Steve Gibson, the
current chairman gathered together a consortium to rescue the club. Middelsbrough
subsequently reformed in 1986.Middlesbrough have yet to win a major domestic
honour. They reached the Final of both the F.A Cup and League Cup in 1997 but
