History

Liverpool may never have existed but for a dispute between Everton FC and their landlord at Anfield in 1892. The dispute resulted in many Evertonians to leave Anfield for Goodison Park. This forced the landlord, Mr John Houlding to form a new club to play at Anfield. He originally tried to retain the name Everton but when this failed, founded a new club Liverpool Association FC on 15 March 1892.

Liverpool have been champions on no less than 18 occasions. These were 1901, 1906, 1922, 1923, 1947, 1964, 1966, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990. Liverpool have won the English league more than any other club. They have won the F.A Cup times, in 1965, 1974, 1986, 1989, 1992, 2001. In Europe, Liverpool have won the European Cup four times (1977, 1978, 1981, 1944) and the UEFA cup twice (1973 and 2001).
