History

Leeds United were formed as a direct result of Leeds City being wound up by the FA in October in 1919 following illegal payments to players. They joined the Midland League in the November, in the same month Leeds United were considering an amalgamation with bankrupt Huddersfield Town but it never materialised.

Leeds have won the championship three times , in 1969, 1974 and 1992. They have only managed one F.A Cup success in 1972. Leeds have won the European Fairs cup on two occasions in 1968 and 1971.
